Strawberry season is around the corner and our local farmers markets will be overflowing with fresh, ripe strawberries( I CAN’T wait!). One of things I like to do is buy strawberries in bulk when they are in season and then freeze them to use year-round. There is nothing tastier than a locally grown, fresh strawberry milk in February–well except having that strawberry from the vine in June!
Homemade Strawberry Milk Recipe
My kids love strawberry milk but I don’t like to use mixes when I can just make my own. Here is how I do it!
- Take ripe strawberries that are either fresh or have been frozen from last season. If they are frozen let them defrost to room temperature.
- Let the strawberries sit for a while so that they make some juice, much like you would if you were making strawberry shortcake. You can feel free to add some sugar to them to make them sweeter if you feel the need to.
- Blend the strawberries up so that they are just juice and add milk.
Seriously these are so good and you will feel great knowing that they are healthy and fresh!
