The Easter Bunny is set to make his arrival this weekend in NEPA!

Viewmont Mall–the Easter Bunny will arrive at the Viewmont Mall on Friday, March 16 at 10 a.m.!

Children visiting the Easter Bunny will receive a FREE Webkinz® Bunny pet, while supplies last.

  • Magic 93’s Frankie Warren will be broadcasting live from 5-7pm. The first 100 children can select an Easter egg from Frankie’s basket for a chance to win a Mall Gift Card.
  • FREE face painting, glitter tattoos and balloon twisting from 5-8pm.

The Hunger Games Movie Premier Party!

Are you or any of your kids fans of the The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins?  Are you waiting anxiously for the movie release?  Well your wait is almost over!
Katniss, Peeta, District 12 and all of Panem comes to life on the big screen in just a few days and you can watch the movie like a VIP!

On Friday, March 23, 2012  at RC Movies 14 Wilkes-Barre is THE HUNGER GAMES Private Premiere Party.   Theater doors open at 7:00 pm and the movie will start at 8:00 pm.   Cost of $20/person includes movie, popcorn, soda, candy/goodies, giveaways and fun!

National Public Gardens Day–2012

Mark your calendars because National Public Gardens Day is fast approaching!

National Public Gardens Day 2012 kicks off Mother’s Day weekend with a full-filled free weekend of special events and activities for schools, families and visitors.  Activites are scheduled throughout the Mother’s Day Weekend so make sure to check them out.

There are 45 public gardens within a 100 mile radius of Scranton PA that are participating in this special weekend, including the Marywood University Arboretum and my personal favorite, the Hershey Gardens.  Click here for a complete listing of gardens that are participating in National Public Gardens Day!

Wiggles, Squiggles and Grins Summer Camp

Looking for a Mommy and Me Summer session for your little one?  Make sure to check out Wiggly Wednesday’s Summer Fun at Wiggles, Squiggles and Grins!

Natural Wonders Program Schedule Announced!

Looking for something outdoors to do with your nature loving kids ages 3-5 this Spring?  Make sure to check out the Natural Wonders Program at the Lackawanna County Environmental Institute on RT 435, Moscow!

This unique program series for children ages 3-5 and a guardian that offers discovery-based learning about the natural world through stories, art and outdoor explorations. Classes run every other Thursday , 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., from March 29th to June 7th.

Early Explorers for Pre-K at the Everhart Museum!

One of my favorite local programs is gearing up to start again!  The Early Explorers Pre-K program will kick off the 2012 session beginning on March 5th!

This program is free and suitable for Pre-K children (age 3-5). Class is held Mondays from 1:00-1:45 pm. Pre-registration is required and groups are welcome.

Join the Everhart Museum, the Lackawanna County Children’s Library, Scranton Cultural Center, and area artists for museum-based whole-child learning in literature, the arts and natural sciences.

The 2012 Season of Early Explorers begins on March 5th and continues through November 12th. Please note that the program will not be held on April 9th, May 28th, and September 3rd.

Giveaway! Crystal Cabin Fever tickets!

Crystal Cabin Fever in Lakeville Pa presents the African Safari in Ice will open to the public February 10th and you can win tickets to go!  This year’s theme, African Safari in Ice, will feature ice Elephants,  Lions, Giraffes and Gazelles.  This year the giant slide will be a 40-foot dual-run elephant themed ice slide.

This is a really fun place to visit during the cold month of February, my kids LOVE sliding down the giant ice slide!

Warm up with hot chocolate and stop by the snack bar to sample their pulled pork, hot dogs, hamburgers and more!

Every day there will be ice carving demonstrations and on Saturdays February 11 & 25 check out the live ice carving competitions from 12-4 PM.  On Sundays February 12 & 26 live ice carving competitions from 12-3 PM. Ongoing ice shows President’s Day Weekend will include demos by owner and master carver Mark Crouthamel.

NEPA Home and Garden Show!

The Northeast Pennsylvania Home and Garden Show is kicking off this weekend! Get a breath of spring air and start planning your garden! This event will feature builders, contractors, materials, decks, pools, plants and more!

Special Guest Tom Silva from “This Old House” will be there on January 28th, attendees will also recieve a FREE copy of “This Old House” Magazine.

Lackawanna College Environmental Institute Day Camp!

 

The Lackawanna College Environmental Institute has announced its 2012 Summer Day Camp Schedule.

A Closer Look * half-Day

(Ages 5 & 6) – July2-6 or 9-13

This discovery based camp nurtures children’s curiosity, wonder and creativity. Using the natural world as a catalyst for growth and development, children will develop connections to Earth by engaging in experiences with plants and animals.

Backyard Habitats

(Ages 7 & 8 ) – July16-20 or 23-27

Campers will investigate the world around them and discover what’s hiding in the pond, in the forest and in the meadow. Learn about the special adaptations animals have to survive in Northeastern PA. This camp is filled with plenty of outdoor fun with time for discovery and learning.

Eco Explorers

(Ages 9 & 10) – July 30-Aug. 3 or Aug. 6-10

Join us for a week of fun and adventure! Campers will spend time exploring the natural habitats on the 42 acre Moffat Estate while learning about local ecosystems and understanding the interconnectedness of all life. Campers will participate in experiential activities centered on discovery and team work.

Earth Connections

(Ages 11 to 13) – August 13-17

Earth Connections is a unique outdoor experience that connects young people to nature and their community through conservation education, outdoor recreation and technology. This camp builds environmental awareness while developing leadership skills that will last a lifetime.

Green Collar Camp

(Ages 14 to 17) – June 25-29

High school students interested in learning about the new careers of the future will get hands-on experience in various environmental fields such as renewable energy, environmental science, global issues and technology. Explore nature, learn from experts and get a jump start on your future!

Camp Details:

Time: 9:00 a.m.-4 p.m.

Cost: $85, payment recieved before May 11th-$80.
